Godparent Program
It has never been easier to be a part of meaningful change. You can make a wonderful difference in the life of a child by becoming a godparent who contributes to a child’s educational and social development.
Godparenting is also a beautiful way to learn more about the daily lives of our children in Uganda. You will receive regular updates on your godchild’s academic and social progress as well as their overall well-being.
Sponsors of our children are usually driven by love and the simple passion for helping others, expecting nothing in return. However, our children have big hearts, too, and are incredibly grateful for the kindness that transforms their lives.
When a child becomes a godchild, they are often very curious to meet their new godparent— and vice versa! We are happy to provide both sides with the opportunity to introduce themselves through a video call. These interactions offer a glimpse into the daily life of the child and their community, helping godparents better understand the culture and build a deeper connection. All godparents are also warmly invited to visit their godchildren in person.
Currently, there are about 120 children on our waiting list for the sponsorship program. Many of them have experienced difficult, often heartbreaking circumstances. Some are ill and cannot afford treatment, others have been abandoned by their parents or have lost them altogether. It is not uncommon for a mother to care for four or more children on her own—a situation that, sadly, is considered normal here.
To ensure fairness in the allocation of sponsorships, we have developed a system that considers factors such as financial need, family circumstances, reliability and eagerness to learn. Additionally, a child’s age, waiting time and academic progress compared to their peers are taken into account.

How much does it cost?
In Uganda, school costs vary by grade, and with each new school year, fees increase. Consequently, the school fees for our older children are higher than for the younger pupils. The fees consist of school fees and additional costs (uniform, lunch, …). For the exact breakdown of extra costs for your sponsored child in the upcoming year, you can inquire with the head of the organization.
The current cost of sponsorship (primary school), depending on the grade of the child, ranges between 1.180.000 UGX and 1.590.000 UGX. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that the amounts may increase in the coming years due to inflation. Rest assured, if the schools decide to increase the school fees, you will be the first to be informed.
For reasons of planning security for the children, we prefer an annual payment if possible (but it’s not a must). If you are considering canceling your sponsorship, please inform us immediately. You can imagine how difficult and time-consuming it is to find sponsors. It would be unfortunate if the child were to miss weeks or even months of school because a sponsor was not found in time.
